New Ezine to Benefit Independent Scrapbooking Businesses

Vanessa Ewbank has gathered a team of experienced scrapbook writers and designers to create Scrap Facts, an ezine for home based and online business owners.

As the owner of an online scrapbook store, www.Scraptabulous.com, Vanessa was frustrated by the limited business resources and information specific to business owners like herself. Scrap Facts www.scrapfacts.com, a web based magazine for online and home based scrapbook businesses, will provide those resources and information when the premier edition launches on June 7th.

Scrap Facts is a valuable tool to help online and home based scrapbook owners succeed in their business. A monthly ezine and member portal will highlight new and proven products; provide hints and tips; feature vendor information, class resources and marketing ideas for small businesses. Scrap Facts provides a unique connection between home based and online scrapbook businesses and vendors that understand the value of individual customer service and personal attention.

Scrap Facts offers a Featured Vendor section and advertising opportunities for the specialty scrapbook manufacturer and unique products.

Leave Memories Closing

According to the Leave Memories Design Team Blogs, owner Holli Boyd has decided to close her unmounted rubber stamp manufacturing business.

after a ton of thought and with a heavy heart i am going to close leave memories. the last year has brought so much change into my life — both good and bad — and my heart isnt in to it. not to mention i am exhausted all the time. getting pneumonia was a real wake up call for me — i had never been that sick before and i was unable to do any leave memories work — so nothing happened with the business. i believe the stress from the combination of being a single mom and running leave memories contributed to my immune system weakness.

CHA to Manage Summer Show

Elmwood Park, NJ, USA; May 16, 2006 —This year the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) will assume responsibility for managing all aspects of the summer convention and trade show. The 2006 show will be held on Friday, July 21st through Sunday, July 23rd, 2006, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL and will feature exciting new programs, events and networking opportunities.

The 2006 CHA Summer Convention and Trade Show will be the largest summer trade show for crafts. With over 500 exhibitors in more than 1,200 booths, the CHA Summer Show will feature the newest and best products for the upcoming buying season. Attendance is expected to exceed last year, with hotel bookings already 85% of last year’s level and still over two months remaining before the show.

“The 2006 CHA Summer Convention and Trade Show is chock full of firsts,” stated Steve Berger, CHA CEO. “ Not only is this the first year that CHA will manage all aspects of the summer show, but we have also added other firsts to make it even more successful and accommodating to our members. We have improved education topics, new beading and needle art pavilions, an industry roundtable discussion forum, new buyer programs complete with free coffee and wine and cheese receptions, a key note speaker and much more. The list of new activities goes on and on. As such, I am pleased to report that we are well on our way to building the CHA Summer Show into a strong annual buying/selling venue that’s the perfect complement to the powerful CHA Winter Show.”

This is a recap of key show features planned:

  • Scrapbook exhibits and innovations
  • Beading and Needle Arts Pavilions and product showcases
  • Wider range of learning programs including the new industry roundtable discussion forums, buyer and exhibitor training sessions and expert course on marketing to women
  • Widely acclaimed keynote speaker, Jason Jennings, delivering leadership tactics of the world’s fastest, most productive and best performing companies
  • “Chicago My Kind of Town” Entertainment Spectacular with the popular Second City Comedy group, the 10 pc. Ovation Orchestra playing popular music and five Chicago themed food stations for dinner

The major focus of the Summer CHA Show is to discover emerging trends, get ideas and allow buyers to stock up for 3rd and 4th Quarter delivery and annual resets.

For the past thirty years, the Association for Craft and Creative Industries (ACCI) and Offinger Management have organized the sales, marketing, and logistics for the summer trade show in Rosemont, Illinois.  ACCI and the Hobby Industry Association formed a combined association, named the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA), in June 2004.  CHA finalized an agreement with Offinger to assume management of the CHA Summer Show, formerly known as the ACCI Show.  While details of the agreement were not made available, it was announced in March 2005 that the agreement would become effective with the 2006 Summer Show.

Lasting Impressions Announces New Ecommerce Site for Customers

New Website Designed to Reach More Consumers While Offering a Convenient Online Buying Experience

SALT LAKE CITY, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Lasting Impressions for Paper, Inc., a leading scrapbooking company, today announced the availability of its new ecommerce website for consumers. In order to meet increasing customer demand and significant company growth, the website will allow Lasting Impressions to reach a much larger customer base and offer a convenient way to order online.

Winner of the Creating Keepsakes Readers Choice Award for the past eight years, Lasting Impressions' new website will showcase over 2,500 products, including its new Spring and Summer line of embossing templates, scrapbooking and card making products and digital photography multimedia software. All products will be displayed in full color and accompanied by detailed descriptions. The website is easy to navigate and reflective of Lasting Impressions' brand personality.

On a recent scrapbooking cruise, Kerry Hill, CEO of Lasting Impressions, realized how restricted scrapbookers are when it comes to purchasing supplies. Scrapbookers are typically familiar with "Big Box" stores which have a limited selection; boutique stores which are limited in number; or home shopping television programs. She saw a need for something more.

"We believe the new website offers a wide selection of Lasting Impressions product to more customers as well as an easy and convenient way to purchase them," said Hill. "Customers will now be able to make purchases anytime, from the comfort of their home, at work, or wherever they might have online access."

The company has incorporated sophisticated technology into the site including real-time order tracking through UPS, the ability for customers to search and browse personal order history and 128 bit SSL encryption. Customers can also generate a wish list and can order and send product to friends. The website's refreshed new look and feel is a testament to the company's innovative, design-driven heritage. The new website, found at http://www.LastingImpressions.com, is currently live and able to accommodate purchases.
