My husband loves this dessert so much that it's known as "David's Dessert" in my family. It's also been known to be eaten as a breakfast.
- 16oz canned pumpkin
- 1c sugar
- 1-1/2c milk
- 3 eggs
- 1/2t salt
- 4t pumpkin pie spice
- 1t lemon extract
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 stick butter, melted
- Mix first seven ingredients (all ingredients except cake mix & butter). Pour into greased 9x13 pan.
- Sprinkle dry cake mix over pumpkin mixture - spread out to cover entire surface.
- Drizzle melted butter over cake mix.
- Rake fork through topping lightly, to distribute butter evenly.
- Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
