Client Comments

  • "Angie wrote an awesome press release for us and advised us on marketing and preparing for our first CHA show. The service was professional and high quality. Angie’s experience in the industry was extremely helpful as we created the press release and prepared for the CHA show. She advised us in many different aspects of our business in addition to the press release, and we were much more prepared for the show as a result. Her immense knowledge of the industry is invaluable to newcomers, and she treats every question like it is important. Angie performs her job with the utmost professionalism and integrity. She is a terrific writer and has wonderful ideas for marketing on any budget." -- Christie Welch, co-owner, Two Chicks Designs

Press Release Review and Revise

PLEASE NOTE: I am not currently taking on new scrapbook marketing clients.

One of the services I offer is scrapbooking press release writing.  I gather essential information from my client, come up with a news angle, write everything up, put it all together in proper press release format, then email it to the client for approval. From there, they can submit it to the media outlets of their choice, or I can distribute it for them for an additional fee.

Sometimes scrapbooking business owners come to me with a press release already written, however. For those occasions, I offer a Review-and-Revise service. When I Review-and-Revise an existing press release, I look it over, make sure the key components and facts are there, that the core message is communicated, and that it will appeal to the target audience. (Typically, clients come to me looking for a scrapbooking media audience, but I write/edit for other, more “mainstream” audiences, too.) I usually make a few editing tweaks here and there - tighten up writing, smooth things out, maybe revise the headline, clarify any unclear points.

I also offer comments on story angle and how it might be received by the target media. (Remember, a press release isn’t necessarily about the message you want to send - it’s about what the media will find newsworthy. My suggestions help pinpoint the newsworthy aspects of a release.)

This service is intended as a final stage of editing — tweaks and suggestions made by an impartial third party (and professional writer). You are then welcome to use those suggestions or not. If you are displeased with my revisions, perhaps my suggestions will clarify how you would like to revise it to better meet your needs. Sometimes seeing something done NOT how you want helps you define how you DO want it to turn out.

The fee covers that basic editing and PR suggestions. Typically the Revise-and-Review edits I do take me about an hour. More in-depth editing, requests for additional revisions, or a complete rewrite require more time. At that point we would discuss broadening the scope of the project. When I write press releases “from scratch”, that fee includes revisions, because the additional fee compensates the extra time.

The Review-and-Revise service is great for small business owners who know what they want to say, but would like confirmation on their format or news angle, or suggestions on how to best appeal to scrapbooking editors.

You know your scrapbooking business could use a little free publicity! A press release is a great way to get a foot in the door with the media. Contact me today to get started.
